What Is Eco-Friendly Printer Paper?

Eco-friendly printer paper, often called recycled printer paper, is made with recycled materials rather than new wood pulp. It's an environmentally friendly option that helps reduce paper waste and conserve timber.

This type of paper is made using post-consumer waste (used and discarded paper) or pre-consumer waste (paper scraps and trimmings from the manufacturing process), significantly reducing the need for new raw materials and helping conserve the world's forests.

There are various types of eco-friendly papers available in the market. This includes 100% recycled paper, FSC-Certified paper (sourced from responsibly managed forests), and uncoated paper (requires less energy and chemicals to produce).

Most of our printer paper labels are 100% recycled or FSCĀ®-certified at Avery. Our eco-friendly stickers and labels use a water-soluble, eco-friendly adhesive.

We believe these are the best materials for producing high-quality labels without compromising sustainability.

Eco-Friendly Sticker Paper FAQs

Sticker paper (Labels) can be eco-friendly, especially when sourced responsibly. We are committed to sustainability by using label materials that originate from FSCĀ®-certified forests. The Forest Stewardship Council (FSCĀ®) certification ensures that the paper comes from forests managed in an environmentally responsible, socially beneficial, and economically viable manner.

The most eco-friendly sticker paper is made from recycled content, post-consumer waste, or sustainable sources. See our range listed above.

Stickers are typically not recyclable because they are primarily made of non-recyclable materials like vinyl or plastic. These materials do not break down easily in recycling processes and can contaminate recycling streams. Stickers often contain adhesives and coatings that further complicate recycling by introducing non-recyclable substances into the mix. To promote eco-friendliness and recyclability, eco-friendly stickers made from recycled or sustainable materials is a better choice. Such materials are designed to be more environmentally responsible and compatible with recycling processes, reducing the negative impact of stickers on recycling systems and the environment.

The most eco-friendly adhesive for sticker paper is water-based adhesive. Water-based adhesives are environmentally friendly because they do not contain harmful solvents or volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which can contribute to air pollution and harm human health.
